Parade of Planets - Planetary Alignment February 27-28, 2025

Q&A in the Article!

I watch the sky every night that I can, and the key thing I've noticed recently is the planets moving closer and closer together.

The Parade of Planets - Planetary Alignment February 27-28, 2025

The planets have really tightened up the distances between them and are much closer together now.

This short video of the current planet positions in the night sky was filmed Feb 27, 2025 at about 9:00pm Pacific time in the USA.

A couple of months ago, the planets were spread across the sky and stretched far below the horizon. Now they have moved much closer together.

This video was filmed using the Sky View app.

Questions?

You may have questions on parts of the short video so here's the things I can think to address for you:

1. You might notice the planets are at constellations that differ from the astrology placements, if you follow astrology information.

This is because what you read in the papers and the monthly moon videos you watch, are based on tropical astrology.

The astrology that uses the positions of the planets exactly in the sky right now (like in this video) is called sidereal astrology.

The difference is about 23˚, so when a planet is in the early degrees of a sign like Pluto is in Aquarius (at 2˚), it will appear in sidereal astrology to still be in the previous sign - in this case Capricorn.

In fact, Pluto doesn't enter Aquarius from a sidereal perspective until about 2043.

There are reasons to use each system, but basically for the most part astrologers in the west use tropical astrology.

2. What's the image of the business (in a house like building) doing in the video?

Many of the planets are 'below the horizon' so I'm actually pointing the program at the ground to find Pluto, which is visible from about 'the other side of Earth' at the moment, which means that the program is 'looking through' Earth to the sky below me to locate Pluto.

Basically, if the planet is below the horizon, the camera is pointed towards the ground and that's why the video comes out like that.

Of course, this information varies by location, so if you are in India for example, what planets are above and below the horizon for you would be different.

3. Explainer: The Horizon Line.

Just past Venus in the video you will see a red line - this is the horizon marker. The next planet above the horizon line is Uranus.

Some planets move faster than others. Obviously the Sun is below the horizon line but only until tomorrow morning, while the Moon is below the horizon line but only because I filmed the video after moonset tonight.

But, Pluto has been way down at the beginning of the planet parade for weeks or months now. Hope you enjoyed the video!
